Dwejra (Inland Sea) in St Lawrence, Gozo

This sites is located along Gozo’s western coast of StLawrence which is accessed either via a cave tunnel or through a road leading from the main parking area. It comprises of an enclosed pebble beach within Qawra’s quasi-circular solution subsidence structure and the inland sea is relatively sheltered and not directly exposed to the coast. The terrestrial area at Dwejra has conserved most of its natural context, with geological, geomorphological, ecological, archaeological, historical and aesthetic features that classify it as uniquely important for the Maltese Islands.
