Marsaxlokk & Qajjenza Bay, St George’s Bay, Qalb Imqaddsa Street area & Pretty Bay in Biżebbuġia

This profile covers seven official bathing monitoring points. A09, is located along Malta’s southern coast in the fishing village of Marsaxlokk, adjacent to Tat-Trunciera Street. This bay consists of a small sandy beach that is shouldered by tracts of pebbles, cobbles, and rocky coast on either side of the beach.
From A10 to A15 are located along Malta’s southern coast in the village of Birżebbuġa. A10 and A11 are found adjacent to il-Qajjenza street where as A11 is next to Fort Ferretti. These points are both rocky sites which form part of St George’s Bay and is surrounded by residential premises. A12 is situated adjacent to Għar Dalam street. This small sandy beach was replenished by dredging and forms part of St George’s Bay. It is surrounded by residential premises and a restaurant. A13 is found adjacent to Dawret il-Qalb Mqaddsa street in the vicinity of the End of Cold War Memorial. This rocky site forms part of St George’s Bay and is surrounded by residential premises. A14 and A15 both form part of Pretty Bay. This sandy site with a concrete platform, which was replenished and extended in the 1980s during dredging works at the site now occupied by the Malta Freeport Terminals. On the left-hand side of the bay is composed of rock is composed of rocky terrain with some stretches of pebbles and concrete platforms/slipways. Surrounding the site are some restaurants and hotels.
