Mellieħa Bay

This profile covers five official bathing monitoring points. C11 to C14 sites are located along Malta’s northern coast of Mellieħa in Marfa Road forming part of Għadira Bay. This is the largest sandy beach in Malta situated adjacent to the Għadira Natural Reserve which was set up in 1978 to protect migratory birds.  The reserve provides wetland and salt marsh habitats. The bay is surrounded by a u-shaped valley which is rich in agricultural activities. Next to C14 there is a cement jetty. C15 is situated in Dawrett It-Tunnara Street Mellieħa adjacent to the Tunnara museum (Westreme Battery). These site are surrounded by private residences, hotels and restaurants.
