Barracuda, Xema Bay, Għażżelin Bay & Siren’s Bay

This profile covers five official bathing monitoring points. These bathing site are loacated on the north-eastern coast of the Maltesa Island in the locality of St Pauls Bay. C19 is found at Xemxija Hill with a rocky coastline having a number of small boats moored in the area. C20 is found outside the area of Veccja Wharf. Tal-Veċċja area is situated on the left side is, bordered by a breakwater which in turn shelters a mooring area for small boats.  The bathing area at this location is surrounded by some very steep rock faces with some crevices present at intervals. C21 adjacent to Settla Maris street with a cemment platform.  There are private residences and a water polo club nearby. C22 is found at the end of tax-Xema alley. Consists of a small sandy beach which is surrounded by boulder scree and maquis areas on one side and a concrete ramp on the opposite side.  The bathing water can be accessed either via a ramp or via a flight of stairs at the side of a building that is used as a yacht club.  C23 is situated in San Frangisk street. The stretch of rocky cove that lies between the Wignacourt Tower and the rocky point below the Boċċi club, south of the Tower, is known as il-Qala tal-Għażżelin.  The seabed in this area is predominantly characterised by rock and coral outcrops. C24 is located in the area known as Tas- Sirens in San Geraldu street.  A series of rock-cut bathing pools are scattered along this stretch of coast. These sites are surrounded by private residences, restuartns and two waterpolo clubs are found in the area.
